That Song Is Going To Plague Her For The Rest of Her Life Edition
Todays links of interest:
- Flu pandemic could choke Internet, requiring usage restrictions
One expert asks "Is there a need for a YouTube during a national emergency?" I guess it all depends on the nature of the emergency and how people are using YouTube. Sure, we probably don’t need to watch 80’s music videos during the next plague, but there might be other, more legitimate, reasons to use a video sharing service during a time of social upheaval. - Porn studios quietly courted
New rule: if you’re trying to keep something on the QT, don’t tell the Los Angeles Times. Porn may be coming to a Blu-Ray player near you. - Andy Partridge: XTC "Well and Truly in the Fridge"
Not such a huge surprise, of course, since they’d only released 3 albums in the past 15 years, but still a bit sad, as the quality of the Apple Venus twins from the late 90’s was right up there with their best work. - Hey! TV writers, are you listening?
!@#$ bloggers and their desire for the perfect television show. Immediate fan feedback is impacting the way television series are created. Sort of. - Ticket Fees
Apparently, the world of live theater has discovered what rock fans everywhere know: those fees and charges are adding up. - David Lehre, MySpace, Fox
The creator of "MySpace: The Movie" gets a television deal. - MySpace erasing disputed content
What is missing here? The how — like how do they determine the copyright status of material. - Cartoon Net Chief Samples Resigns
At least he avoided the cliche "wants to spend more time with his family" excuse. - 500 To Get Ax at MTV
Apparently, their MTV doesn’t want them. - AP Launches Citizen Media Deal
Is it really citizen media if it goes through a corporation? Inquiring minds want to know. - Fire up Netflix; you need to see the first two seasons of ‘Slings and Arrows’ before third starts
Which starts next Sunday on Sundance, BTW. - Top Secret Project Revealed! Booksquare Redesign Launched
Somehow we neglected to mention that Booksquare has finally re-launched with its long anticipated redesign. Considering Booksquare is our sister site, I guess this makes us a bad sister. If you follow the publishing industry or have an interested in writing, do yourself a favor and checkout the all new booksquare.com. - OzzFest, Proudly Sponsored by {Corporate Sponsor}
It’s an interesting thing that Ozzy & Sharon are doing here. As we’ve pointed out before, "free" can have several meanings. Also, it will be interesting to see how much more corporate intrusion something like this can have. I mean, is Ozzy going to have to change the lyrics to "Crazy Train" and sing: "the following guitar solo is brought to you by Budweiser!" - 6-year extension for Giants’ Miller
On behalf of San Francisco Giants fans everywhere: huzzah!
