Sigh. In a weird way, having given up any dreams about making a living writing full-time about music a long, long time ago — the fact that this thing even exists doesn’t really bother me. On the other hand, the fact that this thing even exists really bothers me. "Models on nearly every page" it trumpets, as if that had a single goddammed thing to do with music. In the U.S., Tony Wilson wasn’t a name that had much resonance. But over in the U.K., he was as much of genuine pop hero as somebody who didn’t actually play an instrument could possibly be. - Google Video robs customers of the videos they "own"
In the past we’ve called DRM protected media products "risky investments". If you happen to be one of the few people who bought a video from Google you’re about to find out exactly what we mean. On August 15th videos purchased from the Google Video service will become unviewable. Google is discontinuing its video marketplace and apparently can’t be bothered to keep its DRM authentication system running. If we didn’t know better we might think that Google was actually trying to demonstrate the dangers of DRM. - iPhone bill is surprisingly Xbox HUGE
