- Warner’s Robinov Bitchslaps Film Women; Gloria Allred Calls For Warner’s Boycott
We quote: "Warner Bros president of production Jeff Robinov has made a new decree that "We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead"." Yeah, that’ll work. - ‘Mad Men’ Gives Wide Berth to Madison Ave.
In addition to highlighting the delicious irony, this articles also highlights one of the sillier aspects of advertising: so-called family values. To wit, this is a show about adult themes, yet advertisers are worried about being associated with those themes…despite the fact that the audience is a demographer’s dream. When will we stop pandering to a small section of society and realize that real Americans are a highly diverse crowd. It’s not the people who hate drinking, smoking, and adultery are going to be flocking to "Mad Men" anyway. - He’s Still Chevy Chase
Yeah, this was just plain weird. - Diana jurors inspect crash site
Right. You and I get called for Jury Duty, and it’s all petty theft and insurance fraud cases. These lucky people got a free trip to Paris!! - Yankees beat Indians in Game 3
Stupid Yankees — didn’t they realize that by winning, we would have a historic situation of all sweeps in the Divisional Series? On the other hand, it would have also meant that we would have had no Baseball for most of the week, so here’s for it going to 5! Also, it’s actually kind of refreshing that even with his health widely suspected to be in serious decline, George Steinbrenner is still a jackass. No deathbed converter he, it would be kinda darkly awesome if George fired Joe Torre with his last breath. Even better: George dies today, and it’s in his will to fire Torre if the Yankees don’t win the Series this year. - Heartbreak for Stiller’s "Heartbreak"
It’s entirely possible that people are sick of Ben Stiller making what seems to be the same goddammed movie over and over again — even if its supposedly a remake of a hit from the early 1970s. It’s even more possible that people are just sick of Ben Stiller. - Britney Spears names new album Blackout
Insert your own joke here. - Calif. man sues Apple over iPhone ‘bricking’
While this has more merit than that lawsuit over the price drop, he still chose to a) install the jailbreak program and any third-party apps and b) install the 1.1.1 update. However, if this can loosen the knot entangling the iPhone to AT&T, that would be an interesting thing to watch, indeed. - ‘Friday Night Lights’ lights up NBC
Yay! Unless NBC thinks the ratings boost has something to do with that Tyra/Landry subplot that they introduced in the season opener, then booo! - Joss Whedon Planning Office Massacre
Apparently, Jim is going to kill Pam. Oops, should I have not spoiled that? - Woman Hit By File-Sharing Verdict Fights Back
You know who’s happy about this? Apple. Because it focuses the wrath of the bloggers on the RIAA and away from the recent iPhone bricking. - Hamstring injury raises doubts about Clemens’ future
It will really depend on whether or not he likes the script for the commercial based upon his 2008 return. - TV Parity
Oh christ, I feel like I wrote this. Especially the parts about The Fear, and rooting against all of the new shows because of the current overload of great shows. - NBC Slept on Video’s Digital Rights
File Under: Glass Houses, Throwing Stones. - Radiohead’s ‘customer is always right’ approach contrasts with music industry’s hardball tactics
Yeah, see, it’s all so confusing if you’re the consumer… - File-sharing case spotlights industry limitations
"In her defense," one respondent posted on the pop-music blog Idolator, "I wouldn’t pay for any of these songs either." - With alternate endings, films aren’t always what they seem
Let’s just say that without Kirk and Dave, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" would have ended very differently.
