		<description>Apropos of absolutely nothing, this is the third John Updike thing I&#039;ve read in the last 15 hours.  First was an essay in David Foster Wallace&#039;s &lt;em&gt;Consider The Lobster&lt;/em&gt; (a pan of &lt;em&gt;Toward The End of Time&lt;/em&gt; ); then at lunch today an article in this week&#039;s &lt;em&gt;Entertainment Weekly;&lt;/em&gt; and now finally, this.

It doesn&#039;t mean anything, but it is weird when you suddenly and randomly (though I know he has product to promote, the Wallace essay has nothing to do with that) get inundated with an artist that you normally don&#039;t really think about.</description>
