Never let it be said that Medialoper stood in the way of anyone’s potential riches. Apparently, Mark Burnett’s much-anticipated* multi-media game, Gold Rush has debuted. You can play along by heading for http://goldrush.aol.com/.
I tried to go through the registration process — after a bunch of time-outs and wonky screen resets, I gave up (I do have a screen name and password; AOL recognizes these as valid, the game does not. Yet.). You may have better luck. Note to AOL: You might want to add Gold Rush to your A-Z directory, possibly under, hmm, “G”. Because after going through the registration process, I wanted to get started. I’ve given up.
Okay, one more try. I’m finally in. This was way harder than it needed to be. I’m successfully unscrambled a bunch of words and claimed what I believe is my first prize (a gold bar). I’ve been sent to the AOL Music Store (hello, it’s all about branding), claimed my gold bar, and have been inexplicably sent back to the same game (with the same clues) that I just completed. If I successfully answer all the questions again, do I get another prize?
There’s a handy “Hide It From Your Boss” button that I think I’m going to utilize now because, if I’m following along correctly — and, no, I’m not going to watch the game tips video, nothing’s going on for about an hour, but I have successfully completed Round One. Answered all my questions, found my gold bar, came back to the screen I left. It’s time to shower and drink more coffee.
* – Surely that was the case.
