Zune Autopsy Photos Revealed By FCC

August 25, 2006 by Kirk Biglione

Zune Inners It’s been just over a month since Microsoft announced the mysterious Zune product line. The company has intentionally kept the Zune shrouded in secrecy in hopes that a viral buzz will build prior to the official product release. With almost nothing of substance to report Microsoft’s own Zune Insider seems to spend most of his time denying “rumor and speculation”.

Given all of the secrecy surrounding Zune it’s really surprising to see Zune’s guts spilled out all over the FCC’s website.

That’s What I Like: WordPress

August 25, 2006 by Kirk Biglione

WordPressI started publishing content on the web sometime after Tim Berners-Lee invented HTML and just before Marc Andreessen created Netscape. Over the years I’ve worked with a lot of different web publishing tools. Most of those publishing tools suck.

WordPress doesn’t suck. In fact, WordPress doesn’t even make me swear. That’s the highest compliment I can give any piece of software.

The Truth About Pluto’s Demotion

August 24, 2006 by Jim Connelly

Today, in shocking news, Pluto was demoted from Planetary status to something called a “Dwarf Planet.”

The official story by the International Astronomical Union was that Pluto was too small to be an actual planet, and thus the demotion. But why was Pluto considered a planet for all of those years? And why so suddenly, when just a couple of days ago, Pluto’s planetary status seemed assured? And will, as a Dwarf Planet, it be forced to change its name to “Gimli?”

In a Medialoper Multiverse Exclusive, we have learned the shocking truth about Pluto’s demotion.

Hollywood Today

August 24, 2006 by Kassia Krozser

Two big stories raced through Hollywood yesterday (though one was less discussed than you’d think). First, Sony Pictures Entertainment paid $65 million for a social networking site called Grouper. Second, Paramount ended its deal with Cruise/Wagner Productions. Neither of these things will likely affect you as you go about your daily business, but they’re fascinating to people like me.

The Grouper thing? Well, Sony had a few choices there. They could have built something for a lot less. A lot less. The technology is cheap and the video sharing market is wide open. Do not believe the hype about YouTube ruling the world. There is plenty of room for competition. You need to recall that YouTube is only now approaching its first birthday.

There Is A Cure For the Summer Tube Blues

August 23, 2006 by Jim Connelly

Thanks to FOX, who like to start their shows early because they spend October ruining the Baseball Playoffs, the fall television season is starting this week. Which means, finally, rescue from the summer TV doldrums, right?

Wrong.

If you think that there hasn’t good stuff on the tube this summer, you haven’t been paying attention. Or you don’t have cable, which is where these half-dozen good-to-all-time-classic shows live.
