We're Not Who You Think We Are

Space . . . The Wino Frontier Edition

Todays links of interest:

  • REAL Star Trek XI Teaser Trailer 11
startrek.jpgSome enterprising gent (get it?) recorded and posted a pretty lame trailer for JJ Abrams "Star Trek" movie, to which we are very much looking forward. However, at the end of the trailer is the big URL: Startrek.com. If you go to that essentially defunct site, you see an amateurish graphic that says "New Site now Live," which links to the Official Movie Site, which is — of course — "under construction," and has no new information whatsoever. Lame, lame, lame, lame, a thousand times lame.
  • United First Glance at the Deal Summary
The gang at the United Hollywood site react to the deal that the DGA struck with the AMPTP.
  • Sony comes to Eli’s rescue in Seinfeld flap
See, this is what I don’t understand: why people expect that these quarterbacks in the biggest games of their lives are going to be distracted by this type of stuff in the first place. It’s like the whole Tony Romo-Jessica Simpson thing: lord knows that she’s overrated as an, well, pretty much everything, but to posit her as the reason when Tony Romo plays badly is just lame. After all, Tom Brady has been banging supermodels for years whilst winning Super Bowl after Super Bowl.
  • NYPD Blue creator Milch working on HBO cop drama
And so, the possibility of those promised "Deadwood" movies recedes deeper and deeper into the realm of "just fucking forget about it, already, ok?"
  • Time Warner: Download Too Much and You Might Pay a Movie
The other week, when the Cable guy asked me who was installing new Cable Cards into my TiVo asked me if I also had internet through Charter, I said "no." Because this is exactly the type of shit that they would pull.
  • Linda Cardellini Interview
Linda Cardellini talks about "Freaks and Geeks," which was great when it aired, great when it came out on DVD, and will go down as the definitive chronicle of being an adolescent in late 20th Century America.
  • Brilliant chess master, world-class eccentric Bobby Fischer dies
He was the very dictionary definition of "insane genius," but I was just at the right age to fall in love with the Cold War stand-in of his match with Boris Spassky. That will stand as the one and only time a chess grandmaster will ever be a rock star in this country.
