It’s still not here yet.
Actually, that’s not strictly true. For all I know, it could totally be here. As this is being posted, I’m still asleep, and there is always the possibility that it will be delivered at 3:00 AM. I’m going to steal a page from Mitch Albom — you know, the sanctimonious sportswriter who wrote Tuesdays With Morrie and was busted writing a piece about people attending a sporting event that they didn’t actually attend– and pretend that I’m actually writing this at 3:00 AM.
Hey, if it’s good enough for Mitch, it’s good enough for me!!
The guess here is that UPS won’t actually be delivering it this early, so I won’t be busted.

I was right! Ha! It didn’t show up while I was asleep. I would have preferred to be wrong.

Still no sign. I expected to see fleets of UPS and USPS trucks roaming the streets, tossing packages into the arms of cheering fans everywhere. But nope.
This might be a good time to go to the store.

Song playing from the mix: Pixies – “All Over The World”
Back from the grocery store. The store I went to was Ralphs, whose motto might as well be “Welcome to Ralphs, Now Get in Line,” though this wasn’t so terrible. The Ralphs that we go to is in the same shopping center as a Barnes and Noble, and at about 8:30 or so, when I drove by, it looked like there were maybe a dozen or so people milling about in front of the Barnes and Noble.
Meanwhile, here’s what my front stoop looked like:
Nothing. If I was one of those people waiting out in front of Barnes and Noble, I might already have it. But I went the Amazon route because I hate waiting, which is, you know, the hardest part and all.

Song playing from the mix: Glenn Mercer – “Get it Back”
She said that she was delivering first to all of the blocks that had copies of the book.
How fracking cool is that? Very, as it turns out.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have 784 pages to read this weekend. Luckily, that’s my superpower: being able to read really fast.
